At two in the afternoon, not having heard bingo, they took a break. A half hour earlier, Mary Lou called in an order of pizza. They gathered in the case room. By the way they attacked the food, they were hungry, but the mood was one of frustration.

After they finished eating they got back to their calling. At four o’clock Nora hung up after one of her calls and let it rip. “Bingo!”

Within a minute, Jack and Max had freed themselves from their calls. They gathered in the case room. Mary Lou came in as well.

“I was down to just a few names when I nailed it.” Nora turned her list toward Jack and Max. One line item was highlighted in yellow: BARRYMORE & ASSOCIATES, THEATRICAL AGENTS FOR PERFORMING ARTISTS. She pointed at Jack. “I made an appointment for you, tomorrow morning.”

Jack crossed his arms on the table. “We talked about, if we found the person who appeared to be the source of the contestants we didn’t want a trail leading back to us. How did you keep us clear?”

“I called out on one of our lines that blocks caller ID. When he asked for my number, I begged off, saying someone had just walked in. I rushed through setting your appointment.” She stuck out her hand. “Here’s his address—9:30 tomorrow morning.”
